The African Holocaust Monument

St Clement Anglican Church is home to the first memorial created to honour the 600 million enslaved  Africans who perished in the middle passage during the period 1671 - 1834. The memorial was completed and dedicated on July 20th, 1997 by Pastor Kwame Mohlabani (formerly Canon Clive Griffith). This site is on the Heritage Asset Inventory which is the official list of Trinidad and Tobago’s historic sites that are worthy of notation and preservation
