St Luke’s Anglican Church is located on Cipero Road, Golconda. The Church served the religious needs of officials and their families mainly from England who were resident and employed by the surrounding sugar cane estates; Golconda, Esperance, Diamond and Borde Narve being more popular.
The building was constructed of imported pitch pine, which has stood the test of time. All the Church's exterior architecture has been retained. The altar, pews and pulpit have been rebuilt with teak wood. Its original baptismal font is still present.
According to an 1850 cadastral sheet, a plot of land comprising some 14,679 square feet was donated byL. F. C. Johnston on which a chapel and related facilities are shown. However according to other records, the present St Luke’s Church was built and established in 1884, but in the cemetery a red marble tombstone predates that event somde fifty years to 1834.
In 2011, St Luke’s Anglican Church was nominated by the National Trust of Trinidad and Tobago for the Heritage Preservation Award for the Best Historic Restoration Small.
